I just read in our little free newspaper this morning that there will be no fireworks on Sanibel this 4th of July. Budget problems, apparently.

As it stands now, no fireworks. There are, however, fundraising efforts underway. Fingers crossed - its not too late...yet.

Sanibel's traditional 4th of July fireworks WILL takeplace at dusk over the Bay as always! Many island residents and business donated to see this great tradition continue.

Sharon Michie is organizing and overseeing the donations, along with necessities like police, fire and insurance.
