yes, holy smoke is very casual. they have coolers with interesting beers and alcoholic beverages too. not many tables inside but it wasn't ever crowded anyway when i was there.

captiva pizza was good as well. pretty standard pizza shop menu. prices probably the same as the other pizza shops on sanibel. they have a great cesar salad with a tropical/citrus cesar dressing.

Would you say it's italian style or more like chain pizza?

i would say it was average pizza shop pizza. not brick oven/more italian or anything. sauce was your basic sweeter pizza sauce. they were pretty generous with cheese and toppings.

Hi everyone! Here now (well, closeby in Fort Myers), and revisiting some favorite spots before heading to North Captiva for a week starting tomorrow.
Wednesday's lunch and dinner was Schnappers (grouper basket and wings, respectively), and yesterday was Amy's Over Easy for breakfast (awesome Eggs Benedict, as usual) and Twilight Cafe for dinner. My first experience there, and it was very good! I had the coconut shrimp appetizer, and the lamb special: rack of lamb, mash, and awesome broccoli. Dessert was a chocolate cobbler. YUM. Portions are ample, I was stuffed! Good pesto for the bread, too.
This morning was Amy's again for the special (Coconut French Toast).
Can't decided where to go tonight. Doc Fords, Green Flash (favorites) or Jacaranda or Timbers (haven't been to either one, yet.)

Twilight Cafe's Broccoli is marinated and then grilled - delicious!
- Blend Red Onion with equal parts Soy Sauce and Red Wine Vinegar with 3 parts vegetable oil.
- Marinate 4 hours
- Grill and enjoy _________________ A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes....

I think we will have to try that broccoli. Sounds good. I don't think we have ever been to Twilight Cafe. So many interesting places to eat - so little time. . .

After I returned home I made the Twilight Cafe broccoli. I don't have grill (I know, un-American of me) so I did it in the oven. It was good! Thanks Kim, for the recipe.

I am anxious to try the broccoli at home also. By "blend", do you mean to mix all ingredients in the blender? _________________ Deb

I just mixed in a bowl. I liked the red onion almost as much as the broccoli. I cut it into rings. I didn't remember until later that it would have been smart to put everything in a large zip lock type bag to marinate. Easier to turn. . .

After a half dozen trips to Sanibel, this is the first time we tried Doc Fords. It is now one of our favorites ! _________________ "At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun."
