Hey Sanibel Friends,
It has been 2 years since our last visit....any new restaurants we should check out?
How about our usual favorites?
Island Cow?
Hungry Heron?
Matzaluna?
Jacaranda?
RC Otters?
Can't wait for some pancakes at the Lighthouse!
Thanks for your tips! |

| During our last trip which was Nov-Dec 2009, I was toyally disappointed by Heron. Won't go back unless they announce new ownership. Had a great experience at Matzaluna. Jacaranda was OK, I'd go back. |

| We really enjoyed Twilight on our trip last year. It was so busy that we had to wait an hour for a table, but found it was worth the wait. |

I have to TOTALLY Disagree about Hungry Heron....They are great as usual....we go there mutiple times each trip and are very pleased with both the service and the food!! We were there in November and again this last April, and you can bet we will be there again the end of July!! _________________ ~~Character is doing the right thing....when nobody's looking!!~~ |

We enjoy Hungry Heron as well .... and have for years. The guys in our group got all you can eat shrimp this last visit & loved it (you can have it prepared three different ways, which gives you variety within your meal). Other years we've gone on all you can eat prime rib night.
Their menu has literally hundreds of items (numbered) so we always play a little game before we go ..... randomly choosing a number & saying that's what we'll get (though it rarely turns out to be true ) |

| We really enjoy the Blue Giraffe. Small, nice atmosphere, not too fancy but the food and service was great. They had a shrimp platter that was so good. We enjoy having lunch there. |

| Our family really likes the Sanibel Grill. We had a great meal at Doc Fords too. |

Don't forget the Fried Grouper Sandwich from Grandma Dot's at the Sanibel Marina... (I recommend a Sanibel Thriller ride while you're there too).

Just ate at Island Cow last week. Our group of 10 loved every single thing they ordered. I especially enjoyed the shrimp tacos...yummmmm.
Also loved Green Flash and McT's. Thought the Bubble Room was fun, but overrated. _________________

Ate at Hungry Heron and had lousy food and bad service -- will not go back.
Love Timbers, Island Cow, Matzaluna, McT's (quite an improvement over previous years).
Tried the fried grouper sandwich at Gramma Dot's and cannot say I was impressed. Just not for me I guess -- but the Sanibel Thriller was great.
Everybody has their own opinions -- we have our favorites and rarely try anything new -- but need to to expand our horizons. Bubble Room is overrated and too "kitchy" to suit my taste -- expensive too. Can't just order dessert -- so we walked out. There are plenty of other places with great desserts.
There you go -- my 2 cents worth. _________________

Thanks for some confirmation on Heron. I used to like it years ago but it really went downhill. Lousy food, bad service and dirty conditions. Now , McT's is a restaurant that was headed south but has rebounded and I enjoyed it once again on my last trip. |

| We tried the Heron years ago and it was lousy. But we also went to McT's when everyone else was saying IT was lousy and had great food and great service :-D! To each his own, I guess. We love Matzaluna, Timbers, Sanibel Grill, Island Cow, like Jerry's for breakfast and inexpensive dinners, and used to love the Mucky Duck before it got so expensive. |

The secret with the Bubble Room is that you can stop by and pick up "cake to go." We do it at least a couple of time every trip - just stop at the dessert counter and ask. _________________

| I also asked about this place awhile back. I got no response. As I reported in my trip report June12-19. We gave them a try sort of an exploratory mission at breakfast one morning to see if we wanted to try them for dinner. The resturant is attached to the Holiday Inn. The breakfast was ok and reasonably priced. I wasn't blown away by it enough to give it a try for dinner. |
